FRESH April 2026

The dog days are over and as the nights draw in we shift into Autumn proper.

That’s right, it's April, season of mist and mellow fruitfulness… and time for a brand new FRESH hazy for your drinking pleasure.

April’s grist is a base of light lager supported by a double whammy of wheat malt and chitted wheat. Most malts involve the maltster tricking the grain into thinking it’s time to grow and then arresting the process by kilning or heating the grain. Chit is a little different. Only one step up from raw grain, lightly germinated and lightly kilned, it’s designed to increase the viscosity of beer, giving better mouthfeel and killer foam. Together chitted and malted wheat give April protein for body and foam and a delicious patisserie sweetness from the malt sugars. Then of course, there’s the hops.

The hop bill this month is heavy on the Citra, with T90 and Cryo in the whirlpool, followed by a cool dry hop hit of more T90 and Cryo Citra, backed up with Freestyle Peacharine and Yakima Valley Amarillo. Pop the top off April and pour a glass of rich honey gold haze and bright white foam. The nose is fresh white grape, grapefruit, pineapple and subtle vanilla notes.

Take a mouthful and the first thing you’ll taste is fresh, perfectly baked butter shortbread sweetness, followed by bittersweet orange, dried lime, juicy tangerine, pineapple candy & white peach. More than enough sunny citrus and juicy stonefruit to ease any season adjustment.
